I have so much to catch you all up on, and so little time. Last weekend was drill weekend for Chuck. They took the reservists to Camp Roberts so that they could all qual on the gun range. My Aunt and Uncle live in the area and so hosted the active duty staff for the evening on one of the nights and fed them BBQ. I wished so bad that I could have been there as I haven't been in a year and they haven't met Riley yet....but alas we couldn't make it.
Riley and I did good while Chuck was gone those few days, although Mamma Bear was pretty tired. Normally when I get to that point where I am super duper tired....I can hand off Riley to Chuck or I can vent to him that way I can get a break, or just vent to feel a little better. But when Chuck is gone I cannot do that. So I felt a little worn down by the time drill was over. Now this was only a few days so it has me really worried because Chuck is leaving soon for a few months for Staff Academy. He will be to far for me to be able to make a quick trip down to see him and get a little break. So I am extremely worried about him leaving. I know I can handle going at this alone for a few months.....it's just I am worried about feeling burned out. When I get burned out I am miss cranky pants.....and Riley doesn't deserve that. So I need to find a way to get the sleep I need, still take care of myself like sleep, shower, and not to forget to eat now and then. lol I am just worried about Chuck leaving. I really do depend on being able to ask him for help when I need it, or to be able to just vent when things are a little overwhelming. But alas I need to toughen up and just deal with the fact that he isn't going to be around to do that for a while. blast!!
Tuesday I had a pretty stressful day. It is kind of my fault as I packed to many things into one day. First Riley and I rushed to the Dr.'s for a 10 a.m. appointment with the new lactation consultant. I was worried I wouldn't like her, but when I first saw her she had a very warm and friendly look about her. But then as she passed me she rubbed and patted my back. Yah I have issues with people getting to close to me and touching me. It instantly made me uncomfortable. Yah I know I have issues. I just see it as my space, and I didn't invite you in. lol Well we went in and they put us in the room where they did the snippity snip on poor little Riley's junk! Now I am sure he couldn't recognize the room, but what about smell recognition? The room was not comfortable. And for the nursing chair....they put us in an office chair. You know the rolling kind you put at your desk. Yah it was not comfy. Well to make a long story a tad shorter......our hour long appointment was awful. She managed to piss off my son so bad that he wouldn't even take a bottle. We struggled just to get him to try and nurse with a shield on. Ughhhhh And an hour and 4 1/2 ounces in milk later.....Riley had only actually taken in an ounce. The rest was drooled out. So frustrating. I was trying to calm him down, but the woman kept interrupting and just making the problem worse.
After our appointment we rushed over to our mommy and me class. It was all right. I learned a few things, but both Riley and I were still worked up over our crappy lactation appointment. We tried to nurse with the shield on during the class, but really didn't have any success. After class our normal visiting time just wasn't as good as normal, and the ladies were going around asking each other to lunch at lettuce. But no one asked me. I am not sure if I should have waited for a personal invite or not, and I had a fussy baby. But still it kinda hurt that no one invited me. Oh well.....such is life.
After the class and the ladies left, Riley got fussy. So we headed back tot he parking garage. As we got to the car I found out some idiot in a silver sports car had taken it upon himself to cram his little car into my parking space since it was a tad larger than the usual ones. WHAT?!! So I had no way of getting Riley into the car. Why did this guy not get a ticket? So I had to crawl through the back of the Yukon with Riley and turn the carrier sideways so we could fit over the seat and I could snap him in. Ughhhh so annoying. I could barely squeeze my chunky butt into the car. Riley was pretty peeved after that and screamed the whole way home. I couldn't soothe him. He was beyond the angry faze. ughhhhh I called a few people for comfort, but alas it didn't work. I brought Riley home and got him in his swing. He was still to peeved to calm down and enjoy it. I needed to pump really bad, but couldn't get my little man to stop screaming so I could. Finally he nibbled a little bit of food from me, and then crashed out from all the crying so I could pump. I have to admit that his crying really stressed me out and I was still stressed from that mornings crappy lactation appointment. Riley and I finished up a few things at home, and then Chuck got off of work and came home. We got in the car and headed to Menlo park where we went to a book signing with Cassandra Clare, and Holly Black. It was really fun. Riley was fussy, and spitting up a lot, but I had really been looking forward to getting my Mortal Instruments books signed by Cassandra Clare. I didn't even think that Holly Black is one of the co-authors of the Spiderwick books. So I forgot to bring them. BLAST!! We were the last ones in line, but both authors loved Riley's pom pom hat. lol We got home super late and Riley fussed most of the time. It was about 11 p.m. when we got in the door, and fed Riley, swaddled him, and got him to bed. The next time I woke up.....Was 6 hours later!!! My amazing little man slept for 6 whole hours!!! It was pretty awesome!
Wednesday Riley and I hung out at home and were vegetables. We needed some down time. We were both pretty tired from the day before. Thursday we went to Travis AFB to return our hospital grade pump. ;0( I am sad it is gone. They were doing a mock emergency drill on base. The scenario was a dirty bomb had gone off on base. The whole entire base was participating. Not only did you have to show your ID when you got on base......but you also had to do so each time you entered a building. It was a little annoying. We picked up a few things on base, and I found the most awesome diaper bag EVER!!! Now it is not in digi cammy like I wold prefer, but it is still cool. It is a range bag. But I am going to use it as a diaper bag. lol
Today Friday Chuck has off. We have a few days together before he leaves. I am hoping we can get a few things done, and spend a little time together as a family.
One amazing thing that happened this week......Riley and I were just settling down for a nap and someone rang the doorbell. I was a little annoyed as this woke Riley up...and did the person not see the pillow hanging from the doorbell that stated SHHHHH Baby sleeping? ughhhh so I got up and answered the door. When I opened it the mail lady was walking away from the house and I looked down and a box was by our door. I picked it up and what do you know....it was a pump!!! Now it isn't a hospital grade....but today I am going to try it and see if it will do the job for us. I wondered who sent it and found the return addy was from Amazing J!!! I have blogged about her before....Here.....She truly is amazing!!! J I hope you know how awesome you are and I love you! You are such a great person with such a kind heart! Thank you for helping us out!
Well I had better be going now. I need to get a few things done, and Chuck wants to take a walk this morning. I will keep you all updated.

A chatter box, and a giant!
This week has been pretty eventful at our house. On Monday Riley started talking. for a good 20 minutes he just talked to me. It was so cute and amazing. He was talking to me and telling me all sorts of things. lol It was just out of the blue that he started cooing and such. I got it on tape and I have watched it a million times already. lol I was having a stressful day and felt tired and frustrated over breastfeeding. But then seeing my little man talk to me like that just made my day and changed everything! How can you have a bad day with a cute face like that? lol He would pucker his lips, flare his nostrils, and coo. Aughhhh I think I might have to go watch the video again.
One thing that is nice that has come from being a mommy is I can sleep. I am always so stinkin tired that now when I lay down at night.....it takes me a few minutes to fall asleep, but usually I find myself falling asleep while still playing on my phone. ;0) For anyone who knows me....you know that I hav had insomnia for years and years. It was annoying, but I adapted to it fine and was functional as a night owl. It was just annoying to my friends and family that were morning people. So now to be able to lie down and just crash out is amazing.
Yesterday was Riley's Dr. visit. He grew a lot, and the Dr. is pleased. He gained 5oz. and grew 2 inches!!! He is so long now that we joke he is a giant. He still wears newborn diapers and clothing. But newborn footed Jammie's (most) are starting to get to short for him. He now weighs in at 9lbs. 2oz. wooohooo my little man is getting so big. Riley also had shots yesterday and he wasn't such a big fan of them. Chuck met me at the Dr.'s and made it just in time to hold Riley for his shots.....Phew....I was afraid I was going to have to do it. I found myself getting ancy and irritated that the nurse wasn't hurrying fast enough so it would be over for him. She didn't do anything wrong, I was just being weird. lol But she is pretty cool. When the Dr. came in to talk to me, Riley started talking again and was talking over the Dr. finally the dr. stopped to let Riley finish before he continued. lol It was pretty cute! After the appointment Chuck made the next one with the receptionist while so I could go to my mommy and me class which I am really loving. It isn't the lesson that I love, I just love the socializing with other mommies that are frustrated with the same things I am. And after the class we all stick around for almost an hour and just hang out and talk. Today I was the last one out because Riley was napping and I didn't want to bother the poor little man as he had his shots and I wanted to let him snooze for a few. I ended up getting stuck in the parking garage and had to have Chuck come rescue me. lol oooopps!!
We got our new freezer yesterday. I have been producing so much milk that we didn't have any more room to freeze it. I even had to dump 24oz. down the drain because I didn't have room in our little freezer. So I got a clearance one and picked it up yesterday. I am very happy with it, as I can store milk in there, and also make big meals for dinner and always freeze half for a later date. Momma Bear is happy about this. lol Who woulda thunk that I would get excited over a freezer. ha ha ha
On Sunday I finally got to go grocery shopping after trying for 3 days. I had clipped coupons for a few days, and for being my first time I am pleased with the results. Our bill was $239.35 with coupons and sales I saved 21% for a total of $49 wooohoooo Yah I was pretty proud of myself.
I had better go now, I am falling asleep while typing. lol

The GOOD and the BAD
I have most of my books organized, my kitchen, my clothing, the hall closet, and Riley's room. Now when things get messed up and we will say OTHER people don't put things back where they go. It bugs the heck out of me. Lol I try to remain calm and reorganize things, but sometimes it gets so out of hand that I feel like the only way to achieve cleanliness is to get rid of everything and donate it, flush the house, or in an extreme event....burn all the junk! Lol Aughhhh
Having a baby messes my system up. His junk is all over the house. Now they are in neat piles all over the house, but still.....it should all be in his room. If something comes out, it should go back when it is done. Lol Ohhhh can you feel my OCD seeping through this post? Lol I know it shouldn't bother me, and it's just a little clutter. But I can't stand it. I have been really trying to pick up the house every day and clean the kitchen every day. I have been able to keep up with the kitchen for the most part. But my room is a lost cause, and the living room is on the verge of being taken over by baby paraphernalia, sewing stuff, and coupons. Lol
Is there a such thing as death by clutter? My surger came unstrung, and I have read the manual, I have followed the directions, and Chuck even had a go with the thing......but alas I cannot figure it out. I have all this fabric that needs to be made into burp clothes, and I can't do anything without my surger!!! BLAST!!! I had an appointment last Sunday to have a class to learn how to restring it.....but the girl canceled on me. I need to re-schedule.
I now have blisters all over my hands. I only get them when I stress out. Let's see.....which one is causing it this time? Lack of breast pump, not being able to breastfeed, bills, moving, Paige being sick, and the house not being clean enough? I think it's a large serving of the pump with sleep deprivation thrown in on the side. Ha ha This whole pump thing really has me stressed out. I mean it shouldn't be this hard. But of course I can never do anything easy.
I went to the Dr. On Thursday to find out what these two lumps are that I found since I started pumping. They are rather large and I found them a few months ago. I figured they were clogged milk ducts, but with both sides of my family having a history of breast cancer....I figured I should have it checked out. I know it's shocking I went to the Dr. On my own without being hounded by others to do so. Lol I hate wasting a Dr.'s time, because 99.9% of the time all they tell me is they don't know, and they cannot fix it. So I hardly bother going since it is a waste of my time and the Dr.'s. So I went in, and they wouldn't let Chuck and Riley come with me. I thought that was messed up, but didn't argue. I told them that if they found something weird then Chuck was to come in with me when they told me. That way if I did happen to break down, I would have someone there for me. Well after the ultrasound the nurse called Chuck back. The Dr. Came in with the Ultrasound tech, and he proceeded to tell me that they were two large cysts. Each contained liquid and tissue. The Dr. Told me they were Benin, and that he had no idea what they were and in all his years of medical practice he had never seen anything like it. (go figure....I never do anything the easy way) The man was in his mid 60's I think, so he has seen a few. I wondered how he knew they were benign if he didn't know what it was. He said he was going to refer me to a surgeon for further testing. He also stated that he was going to look through his medical books to see if he could find it. Aughhhh such reassurance. Lol
After my Dr. Appointment we went home where I felt kinda stressed. I plopped down on the bed to rest for a minute, and ended up crashing for 4 hours! Ooops! It was much needed. I could have slept longer, but made myself get up. We went for a small drive to run some errands, and we found out that Riley really likes driving in the evening when it is hot with all the windows down and the wind blowing on him. Lol It was pretty cute watching him. He would close his eyes and stick his head up in the car seat rocking his head side to side. He seems like a huge fan. lol We were going to get some groceries, but opted not to as Riley needed to go home and get some chow. It was super hot in the house when we got home, so we had all the windows open, and the fans on and it was still 80 in the house. We stripped Riley down to his dah duh ta da's (diapers) and fed him and put him to bed because he was so warm. He slept for 5 hours straight!!! wooohoooo
Friday was a little challenging. I have started to get into the fine art of coupon clipping. I need to do my part in saving this family money especially with a baby now. So I made up a grocery list and then spent the day off an on looking up coupons for those items. I don't have coupons for each item, but a good majority. lol It is nice to be able to save some money. Riley was a little fussy most of the day and I couldn't get him to take a nap. It was Chuck's last day of leave, and he spent it with his friends. He came home in the early evening so we could get the groceries, and run errands I needed to do. It was to late for a few since stores had already closed....but we made it to Best Buy to get a small freezer that we need since I am producing so much milk our freezer is full and we have no room for food. I am excited as I am the type of cook that likes to make a lot. Then it gets wasted because Chuck hates refrigerator leftovers and refuses to eat it. Now with this little freezer I can make a large meal, then divide it into small servings and freeze them. It will save us money in the long run. ;0) We also ran over to the local Borders which is closing. I am very sad about this, as even though the store isn't as great as the one we loved in El Cajon....it became my fav little book store. Well it is closing so everything is discounted. We spent about an hour in there. I found two books I wanted, Chuck found two, and Riley found 8! lol So I put back my two, Chuck put back one, and Riley got all of his. WAIT A MINUTE!!! We went to the book store to get me a book, and I didn't even get one. lol How did this happen?!! lol The deals weren't that great yet, items are still only 10-20-% off. And they don't accept borders weekly coupon there. SHADY! While we were standing in line....Riley loaded his diaper in his dad's arms! lol So Chuck left with Riley and the stroller immediately and went to the car to take care of that. ha ha I stayed to get the books. Then when Chuck came back from the parking garage to get me, Riley was throwing a fit and was starving. So we hit up Taco Bell and went home....Still no grocery shopping. Aughhh So now we are going in about 20 minutes....and we will make it to the grocery store! lol Wish us luck!!!!
