As a few of you know, Chuck was promoted to Ssgt. the day before he left for Africa. He invited a few people to come and see, since this was a very big deal for him. Reaching Staff Sergeant has been a goal we have been working towards for a few years now. And even though people have gotten in the way of him receiving this, he finally achieved it! I am so proud of him, and his ability to lead his Marines. In our Marriage the Corps comes first and then us. Now some of you might think that seems a little harsh, or mean even. But for those of you who are not in the military need to understand that they own us. So the more we embrace our Corps, the easier the changes are for us. They only need to give us 24 hours notice to tell us Chuck is deploying, or we are moving. Now they usually give us more notice than that, but we have had only a 3 hour notice that he was leaving. But we just try to roll with the ripples in the tide, than stand and let them knock us down.
Chuck was promoted at his shop in Concord, California. Beau Oyler and myself were the ones to pin his new Chevron's on. This was very special for me to do, since sometimes the road of the military wife is a very rough and lonely one. But hey we made it!!! Our next goal is Gsgt. (Gunnery Sergeant). But we are going to take some time and enjoy this one first for a while before we start to push ahead and work towards Gunny. Here are a few pics from his promotion. Thanks to everyone who was able to make it with such short notice! ;0)

Congrats to you both! Paul always says that every rank he has, has been earned by the both of us. Never forget you earned it just as much as Chuck did!
ReplyDeleteThe best military wife understands that the military comes first, and the best military member husband understands that he needs to treat you like you do! It sounds like the two of you have achieved that perfect balance so you can adore each other perfectly!
